Solar+ Fuel Station and Convenience Store, Blue Lake, CA

Since 2002 Blue Lake Rancheria Tribe has accelerated its transition to a zero-carbon community, for its economic, environmental, health, and overall resilience benefits. Convenience stores are hubs and de facto meeting places in rural communities, fire trucks can refuel, EVs can re-charge. This site was chosen to test advanced technology in an underserved building sector and funded by the California Energy Commission EPIC program. A public/private partnership designed a solar+ microgrid to be affordable for small sites with high resilience value.
