The Contra Costa Children's Mental Health division is a model agency. To the Point was selected to develop a social marketing and advocacy campaign for the program, also known as the Children's System of Care, as part of a federal grant. An important component of the program is educating the staff, agency partners, and community-based organizations who provide services, as to what is the value and role of social marketing. We introduced new techniques for communication and collaboration and demonstrated novel ways to leverage technology through an easy-to-use intranet. One of the first deliverables, a video targeted to legislators and other government officials, was instrumental in saving key childrens' programs during the 2002 California budget crisis. A follow-on video, "Come to the Table," explaining the Children's System of Care in greater detail has been receiving an enthusiastic response nationwide.
